FOREWORDIt was on 27 April 2013, in Miskolc, at the 4th International Conference of Gtilag Researchers, when the International Society of Gulag Researchers (ISGR) together with the Pécs-Baranya Ethnic Circle of Germans in Hungary decided to organize the "Malenkij Robot" Memorial Year. All civil organizations and researchers agreed and supported the initiative, so the "Malenky Robot" 2014-2015 Memorial Committee was founded. Its goal was to honor and recompense all "malenky robot" deportees, their families and relatives for being imprisoned innocently, without court trial, for the years of forced labor and suffering, for the family tragedies and for the deaths of tens of thousands of our compatriots, which could not even be mentioned without the threat of retaliation until the end of the communist regime. The founders hold the view that this rectification can only happen if the nation not only remembers these tragic events, but they also take their due place in national history according to their historical significance. Some of the objectives of the Committee were to estabUsh an independent research center and an exhibition gallery, to publish a research volume, to support the making of documentary and fiction movies as well as to erect more memorial places. The Government of Hungary supported our goals along with a parallel initiative of the Association of Hungarian Political Prisoners and Forced Laborers Deported to the Soviet Union, therefore in 2015 a large-scale program could be launched. The Memorial Committee of the Political Prisoners Deported to the Soviet Union was founded (Gulag, Gupvi Memorial Committee), with our Society as one of the founding members. In the past three years, we estabhshed excellent working relationships, among others, with the Committee of National Remembrance (CNR) and the VERITAS Institute of Historical Research. Our Association strived for accomplishing its original objectives during the memorial years, therefore, it has been working in several, diverse areas. The opening event of the memorial years was the memorial conference entitled "Trauma and Taboo - Malenky Robot" 1944/1945-2014/2015
