INTRODUCTION"to catch the breath of life despite the stranded sighs "The poetry of Tihamér Toth does not need an introduction it only needs a receptive audience capable of perception in depth because his kind of poetry is not only of epic proportions; it is also profound. The reflective, contemplative, philosophical approach not only explores the hidden, mysterious labyrinth of human emotions it is also touching. His is the kind of poetry that is not easy to read; therefore, it is not for the person who wants to relax and be entertained. It is unlike most of the fashionable poetry today with the "instant appeal" and a lot of superficial wisdom ready to be set to music by a folksinger no, Toth's poetry has nothing flippant about it, one the contrary is is demanding. You might say it is hard work. It is like an affair with a really good woman, exhausting but very satisfying. The poetry of Toth is full of unexpected imagery; stimulating and provocative. The language is rich like in a Persian tale, but without becoming ornate or cumbersome. It should be read aloud many times to fully savour the sonorous lines that reveal those essential concepts of our age that they contain.Much of his thinking has crystallized around problems unique to our times, and yet they are also timeless. I believe that his ability to transcend the trivia of present day crisis in his main strength, although he thrives on the contemporary predicaments of man. He is capable of distilling his experience into an universal observation that will make him a literary figure of lasting value.Prof. Zeljko Kujundzic Penn State University Uniontown, USA.
