No. 1JULY 15, 1916Price: SixpenceFrom the Crow's NestI am very glad we are able to issue this journalI hope every monthto our members. There is plenty of very interesting material, so the only question is as to funds. 1 have written to some of the principal Lodges asking whether they feel inclined to make a grant towards the journal's cost. I propose to send a number of copies to every Lodge and Centre, asking these to be good enough to become our local agents, to distribute the copies and to remit to us the money they realise. Lodges which make a grant will receive the number of copies the grant covers, at the rate of six shillings per year per subscription. Up to the amount of the grant these Lodges will, of course, recoup themselves from sales, or in any other way they choose. Some Lodges may, for example, prefer to distribute the journal free, charging the cost to the general Lodge funds. We shall be very glad to send additional copies at the rate of six shillings per year. Some Lodges may wish to have more copies than covered by the grant, remitting to us receipts above and beyond those which they have had to credit to the grant account. We shall be glad to send these together with those covered by the grant. I feel sure members everywhere will like "The Australian Theosophist," the name selected bythe Executive Committee. We need a link with each other. At the same time, please remember that "Advance 1 Australia" is our service to the outer world, whereby we pass on to others, in appropriate form, the Theosophy which has changed our lives. Think of "Advance! Australia" first and "The Australian Theosophist" afterwards.* * *"All's well," is the official report from the Theosophical bridge on our Theosophical ship. Finances are in a fairly sound condition, though, of course, we need more money. Membership is steadily increasing. Enthusiasm is deepening everywhere. We all feel that the April Convention gave us tremendous encouragement, and every member who attended went home very much of a live wire. A universal electrification of our Lodges and Centres has been the result, and this means a vitalisation of Australia."Advance! Australia" is by this time in the hands of all our members. We hope they approve of it, though the editors hope to do much better with the second issue. I am, however, glad to be able to report that after we had printed 3,000 copies, we found we needed 1,000 more, and a little later
