Bővebb ismertető
Family devotions give both older and younger members of families opportunities to teach and to learn from one another as they worship G(xl together. Children and adults alike benefit from regular Bible study, reflection, discussion, and prayer at home. The Home Altar is designed to aid your family in the practice of daily devotions.
For each day, The Home Altar suggests a short passage of Scripture for families to read aloud together. Then the devotional booklet quotes a portion of the day's Bible reading, offers a short meditation or story, and provides a concluding prayer. Some parents choose to read through the devotional material before the rest of the family gathers for devotions. Then they are familiar with all the pieces of a day's devotion and are prepared to add their own thoughts, to ask their children questions, and to answer some of their children's questions about the readings. Even if you are a parent who does not have time to read through the material before your family gathers for devotions, you should still find that the readings are meaningful for your family.
You might want to set aside a special time every day for your family devotions—perhaps before breakfast in the morning, after dinner in the evening, or just before bedtime. Consider taking turns reading the Scripture passage, verse, meditation, and prayer aloud to each other. And try not to let the devotional booklet have the last word on any day; devotions in The Home Altar are intended to encourage family members to talk with one another about their experiences and concerns as together they learn and grow in faith.
