Bővebb ismertető
/t was all done by the Danube; it spawned the city and created it in its own image. A few millión years ago, somé time in the Pliocene period. the ancient Danube broke through the reeds and mountains in the neighbourhood of Visegrád, and the conquering river stretched out its arms toward new landscapes. By the time it arrived in the area of presentday Budapest its motion slowed down, and the weakening currents swept out deposits of sand and pebbles. On the banks the silt created little hills that forced the water to change its course. The Great River rambled on until it niade its present bed, and in the mean-time its deposits förmed the plain of Pest and the lovely hills of Buda. The two add up to the enchanting image of Budapest, a beautiful sight from the Danube.
