THE NATIONAL SZÉCHÉNYI LIBRARY'S AWARDS OF MERIT (2002-2003)

'The two centuries of cultivating Hungarian culture by the National Széchényi Library and the Hungarian National Museum founded by Count Ferenc Széchényi are part of our Hungarian Heritage states the certificate of merit made out to the National Széchényi Library and presented to our institution on 21" December 2002.
The 'For Hungary Foundation' established the Hungarian Heritage Award with the intention to draw attention to personalities significant for our Hungarian identity and to acquaint the world with the outstanding contributions these people have made.
The distinguishing award is given to seven people, achievements or institutions four times a year.
Every Hungarian citizen has the right to nominate candidates. Among those honoured, there have been Zoltán Kodály, Béla Hamvas, Krisztina Egerszegi, János Neumann, the Golden Football Team and the two-hundred-year-old institution of Hungarian teacher training. The jury is made up of well-known scholars, artists, public figures, such as József Hámori, Pál Bolberitz, Katalin Dávid, Anna Jókai, Pál Rókusfalvy, Sylvia Sunyovszky, Sándor Szakály and János Balogh (a life member).
In addition to the honour acknowledging the two hundred years of our library's service, two other achievements of art and intellectual life are also to be mentioned, as their certificates are held in the National Széchényi Library. In the year 2001,
