On behalf of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, wetcome to the edition of the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market, better known as FILMART to entertainment industry professionals worldwide.The largest event of its kind in Asia and one of the world's leading film markets, FILMART has grown alongside Hong Kong's expanding role in co-productions with the mainland, a trend that also offers opportunities for overseas players.This year, a record-breaking number of about 600 exhibitors are taking part in FILMART, with more than 5,200 visitors from around the world expected to attend. For the first time, the United States has staged a pavilion at FILMART Organised by the Independent Film & TV Alliance (IFTA), it counts more than 20 American companies. I am also pleased to welcome the first-time Cambodian Pavilion and a pan-European pavilion as well as pavilions from Chinese mainland, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and Vietnam.In addition, the event has attracted such mainland multipliers as the China Film Promotion International (CFPI), the China International TV Corporation (CITVC) and the Television Production Committee of China Radio and Television Association.New this year is the "Co-production Lab Hong Kong," organised by Ateliers du Cinéma Européen (ACE) and Sinapses Asia Ltd, with support from the European Union's Media International. About 20 producers from Asia and Europe are taking part in the four-day, project-based workshop. The event offers panel discussions, individual pitching, consulting sessions, market presentations and expert advice.The four-day event includes more than 300 market screenings and 60 special events.
