Budapest. The Chain Bridge and Buda Castle A COUNTRY WITH A DIFFERENCE Would you like pleasant surprises and exciting adventures? Would you like to have a carefree, quiet vacation? To become acquainted with the history, culture, past and present of a small country, the varied entertainments it offers, and to try its famous foods and wines, all without having to resign from your standards of comfort? Does it matter to you what you get and what you see for your money? If the answer to the above questions is Yes, let us help you decide where to spend your holidays. The task is easy, the answer obvious: DON'T MISS HUNGARY! Hungary is easy of access. It lies in the heart of Europe, at the crossroads of great East-West and NorthSouth routes both on land and in the air. From every capital in Europe the flight to Budapest takes a mere 1 to 3 hours. The poet Robert Graves called Hungary "a little big country". "Little" beacuse its area is only 93,000 square kilometres (about 36,200 sq. mi.), so if you start out from Budapesl, the capital city, even the remotest point of destination is only 200 to 300 kilometres. But the country is also "big" because it abounds in sights worth seeing: quaint old towns, fine art relics, romantic landscapes, rejuvenating spas and, last but not least, popular international festivals. Wherever you go, you are greeted with hearty hospitabilty by the people who treat tourists as welcome guests-an unexpected pleasure in this alienated age.
