GEOGRAPHY Hungary is situated between longitudes 16° and 23° east, in the Central European time-zone. She is equidistant (5,000 km) from both the North Pole and the Equator, lying between the latitudes of 45°48' and 48°40'. Totál area is 93,030 sq. km or less than 1 per cent of the area of Europe. In order of size of territory, Hungary occupies 16th place among European countries (just ahead of Austria and behind the Distances of Budapest from other European capitals (in air kilometres)
