Bővebb ismertető
This book commemorates 200 years of Ontario's heritage. In creating this unique visual tribute, citizens of the Province, both young and old, have become the chroniclers of the day through the lenses of their cameras. Their photographs have captured, in a remarkable way, many of the images described by the pens of their forebears, reflecting the essence of what we have come to know and love as Ontario.During this Bicentennial year in the Province, for all of us who are privileged to live in Ontario, whether we use a camera or not, it is a great moment in our history to take stock, to consider the traditions of our past, to re-discover the rich heritage we have inherited as a people. In considering this heritage, we should also remember the strength of the pioneering spirit which first settled this land, for it was this original vision that gave us our bustling cities and towns, prosperous farms and busy highways, rapid communication and competitive industries, splendid parks and burgeoning schools and universities. In recent years, Ontario has been enriched by those who have come to live here from other lands. Like the pioneers of old they have brought their own vital spirit to life in this Province as they have risen to the challenge of establishing new roots. In factories, on farms and in business they are helping to fashion the new face of Ontario, adding new dimensions and contributing to our strength as a community. This is also a province rich with natural beauty, a vast area of refreshing open spaces, quiet country valleys, breathtaking vistas and secluded coves.
