Szentendre - In Olden Times and Today [antikvár]

Dear Reader! Dear Guest!Our guide is different from usual guidebooks offering sightseeing tours to tourists. We would like to show the present face of our town to visitors- and a bit to ourselves too. Being an offspring of an old family of Szentendre, I know that the present of a town cannot be understood without knowing its past. It is especially true when talking about a thousand years old town. So we are outlining the history of our town in a nutshell. We introduce the painting of Szentendre, our museums, galleries, cultural centres and catering establishments-things that deserve a shorter or longer visit of Szentendre.It could be useful to present future plans to readers and guests. Szentendre expects - as part of regional long-term development projects - the boulevard bypassing the town, and the bridge linking Szentendre with the island to be built. We would like to preserve and develop our friendly relations with our twin towns of Wertheim in Germany, Huntingdon and Godmanchester in England, Salon de Provence in France, Uusikaupunki in Finland and Kézdivásárhely and Zilah in Romania. We wish to make the town even more attractive and comfortable for its guests and citizens by further development of the infrastructure: cleaner, more attractive streets and squares, and preservation of historical sights and cultural traditions. We also intend to build the Art Mill and an indoor swimming-pool.Szentendre is a hospitable and open town. It does its best to provide an unforgettable experience for tourists and visitors. It ensures a worthy environment for conferences, exhibitions and sport programmes. Szentendre also offers possibilities to entrepreneurs who wish to invest in the town.We wish you to enjoy yourself in our town!
