The Bátorliget Nature Reserves after forty years, 1990ON THE CADDISFLIES (TRICHOPTERA) OF THE BÁTORLIGET NATURE CONSERVATION AREAS (NE HUNGARY)S. NÓGRÁDI, J. OLÁH and Á. UHERKOVICHThirty-three species were collected in the area during more than fifty years. Almost all species are widespread and frequent all over the country. Umnephilus extricams McL. occurs only here on the Great Hungarian Plain. The bad condition of waters is not favourable for caddisflies.INTRODUCTIONSzékessy (1953) mentioned occurrence of only one Trichoptera species from Bátorliget, referring to Pongrácz's (1936) paper. This species was Anabolia nervosa Leach, which has not had any voucher specimens from Hungary till recent days, thus it is not included in the checklist of the Hungarian Trichoptera (Uherkovich and Nógrádi 1990a).The systematic research of trichopterous fauna of Hungary and those of the Great Hungarian Plain started too late. In the past decades only some partial examinations were carried out by J. Sátori, J. Oláh, S. Újhelyi and O. Kiss. Two co--authors of this paper (S. Nógrádi, Á. Uherkovich) commenced to research on the fauna intensively in the eighties, their examinations have spread to all main regions of Hungary (Northern Mountains, Great Hungarian Plain, South Transdanubia incl. Mecsek Mountains and Zselic Downs, West Hungary incl. Kőszeg Mountains, Bakony Mountains). The results were published in several papers but we disregard to quote them here. The Hungarian trichopterous fauna has been destroyed very quickly. The pollution, the drainage, the years of drought, the reduction of afforested area and e^an-sion of plough-land have rather damaged the life conditions of caddisflies. It is very likely that a dozen of species have already become extinct in the past decades. Till recent time 197 caddisfly species were proved from the entire area of Hungary (Uherkovich and Nógrádi 1990a, Nógrádi 1991). Ninety-two species are known from the Great Hungarian Plain (Uherkovich and Nógrádi 1990b).The first caddisflies at Bátoriiget were collected by Sátori in the year 1938. These three species (Hydropsyche angustipennis Cmi., Anabolia furcata Brau. and Goera pi-losa F.) were published recently in the paper dealing with the Trichoptera fauna of the Great Hungarian Plain (cited). No voucher specimens oiAnabolia nervosa Leach are known either from Bátorliget or in other parts of Hungary. Only one caddisfly499
