LETTER OF TRANSMITTAL
June 30, 1967
The Honorable John V. Lindsay Mayor of the City of New York
Dear Mr. Mayor:
I have the honor to transmit herewith the Sixty-second Annual Report of The Brooklyn Museum, a Department of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences.
The thousands of children and adults who visit the Museum each year continue to take pleasure in the growing richness of the collections and the many and diverse programs that complement them. Thanks to the City, the Museum completed this year the new Paintings Study Gallery, a major innovation in the museum profession. This new facility brings out of storage the entire reserve collection of paintings and watercolors, making them accessible to the interested public and insuring their better preservation in a clean, well-controlled environment. The Museum's contributions to the cultural viabihty of the City are fully detailed in this report.
On behalf of the Trustees of the Institute and the Governors of the Museum, I should like to express our sincerest gratitude for the City's support and for the continued interest and guidance given by your Commissioners and their assistants.
Yours very truly.
