Bővebb ismertető
PrefaceThe Agricultural Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has been at the service of Hungarian agriculture for a period of four decades. The most outstanding results achieved during the first twenty years were the development of the first Hungarian maize hybrids, the elaboration of large-scale maize production techniques and the popularisation of hybrid maize seed. The second twenty-year period was hallmarked by the breeding of the first Hungarian intensive wheat cultivars and the elaboration of up-to-date wheat production methods. The Institute also pioneered the practical application of results achieved in Hungarian research on plant genetics. In order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the institute, a scientific memorial session was held, the proceedings of which are presented in this volume. The major research results achieved over the last 40 years are summarised according to research topics, giving an evaluation of the pure and applied research carried out by the institute independently or within the framework of international cooperation, and outlining future plans and prospects. It is with pleasure that we offer this volume to farmers, researchers, lecturers, those employed in agricultural administration, and to university and college students. It is hoped that the results summarised in this book will contribute both to advances in pure research and to a further increase in wheat and maize yield averages.Martonvásár, 1 April 1990.Dr László Balla Director
