BRITAIN AND THE BRITISH
When you think about Britain, what things come into your mind? Write down as many things as you can. With a partner or the class, compare your lists. Place the items in one of the four categories.

Do your lists indicate that you know more about one country rather than another?
Look again at your lists. How many items do you think are typical of the life of ordinary people who live in Britain today? How many are traditional items or stereotypes?
Take it in turns to describe the photos on the opposite page. Which ones represent stereotypes, and which represent ordinary life today?
What about your country? Are there traditional items that people associate with it, or stereotypes? How close are they to the ordinary life of most people?
