INTRODUCTIONThe essence of bluff is the successful defence of an inherently weak position which, in the case of photog-raphy, implies getting good results and maintaining your image without unlimited funds or massive experience. This book is therefore about:holding your own against other photographers in conversation, with pointers to their feet of claywearing the correct caméradebunking mythsknowing a bit more about other people's mistakes so that your own work looks better as a resuit. It is not about:-cinematography,-video,-adventures in the darkroom, or-finding unclad models.Getting an image on record in a form in which it reminds you, even faintly, of the scene your eye visualised is actually extremely difficult. Unless you are very skilled, it is craftier to be an informed critic than a performer. Fortunately the photographer's obsession with hardware rather than results means that there is a lot to criticise, even before you see what they produce.
