CONTRACT BRIDGEBridge is a game. What is more it is a good game, one of the most popular ever invented, and it is played by millions of people throughout the world. But it is more than a game, it is also a social asset. A good Bridge player finds a ready welcome in many social circles which would be closed to him or her without the ability to play the game with a certain amount of skill. One of the great changes which the world has seen in the last fifty years has been in the social occupations of the people. In the days of Queen Victoria musical evenings and afternoon at-homes brought together the friends who sought entertainment and pleasure in their leisure hours. Today, afternoon and evening Bridge parties have taken their place and the issue of invitations is determined not so much by the personality of those to whom they are sent as by knowledge of and ability to play the game.
