Introduction
The Hungarian Film Guide, now in its twelfth edition, is one of the most valuable almanacs of Hungarian cultural life. Each year it aspires to offer a general map of the entire Hungarian film industry and culture. It embraces the whole landscape of the mechanism of filmmaking, including the difficulties and successes the industry faces, as well as providing a full list of its products. Another reason why The Hungarian Film Guide deserves to be appreciated is that it is one of the few professional catalogues in the Hungarian cultural environment, which are published in English. This fact makes its overview of Hungarian film making accessible on an international scale. I highly appreciate this guide not only as the Hungarian Minister of Culture, but also as a dedicated consumer of Hungarian films, as well as of the foreign products of this artistic profession.
