Sicilian Defence S114.11 Najdorl Variation
In the variation SI 14.11 most w/hite players opt for 10.a4, with the aim of prying Black's a and b-pawns loose from each other and picking them off one by one. The games Khalafian-Gaprin-dashvill and Govedarica-Raicevic, however, show that White may let himself in for real danger If he decides to capture the a6 pawn, which is why an alternative plan is often chosen: the manoeuvre lhc^-a2, meant to put pressure on the b-pawn. Browne manages to neutralize the greatest dangers with a tactical finesse and ends up with a solid draw against Yudasin.
Not all white players are bent on attacking the queenside. Some of them play 10.g4 in order to launch a king attack as soon as possible, while others decide to castle (10.0-0-0) before undertaking further action.
