?1/ BOB and RAY
It seems like only twenty-seven years ago that we threw out our joke books, said so long to Art. Moger and left Boston for New York to bob for the Big Apple.
Come to think of it, it was twenty-seven years ago!
Our Swiss-born correspondent, O. Leo Leahy, researching the interim, reports—happily—that the period has been good to Moger. His ever-expanding career, begun when he was a newsboy, has encompassed a number of occupations: reporter, cartoonist, columnist, advertising, press-agentry, public relations, and, of course, writing.
Contributing to his success in each field has been his singular ability to make friends, a ready wit, and a gift of gab. (In fact, in twenty-seven years, he still hasn't learned how to say hello in twenty-five words or less!)
And now comes this, his latest literary effort. A long way and a far cry from the kid days when he drove a horse-drawn droshky through the streets of the tiny Dukhobor community of his childhood, delivering newspapers. Neighbors always recognized the approaching clatter of hooves echoing down the cobblestone streets, and one would often throw open a window and shout:
"Art. Moger's buggy! Art. Moger's buggy!"
To which another would shout: "He certainly is!"
(That joke was in one of the books we threw out.)
Maybe if we'd had this volume then, things would be different now. But better late than never.
Read it-you'll like it!
P.S. We threw out the caricature twenty-seven years ago, too!
