The Polaroid Book [antikvár]

INTRODUCTION The photography reflected within the pages of this book represents some really amazing examples of what can be accomplished with Polaroid film. When I first visited the Polaroid Collections in the Fall of 2003, I was impressed with the variety and quality of the images. The collections are vast, and making selections for this book was definitely not an easy task. Barbara Hitchcock watches over this precious treasure trove and graciously granted the access to the archive. Much of everything, and especially photography, is "instant" today. Digital cameras have changed our lives forever, but it is interesting to note that Edwin Land and his company first made the "instant photography" experience possible for the average person. The sense of seeing your pictures develop in your hand, and the ability to make creative and technical adjustments while shooting photographs was really an amazing new experience! While conventional photography has changed dramatically in the past few years, Polaroid continues to be a vital, sensitive, and expressive material that has a unique look and feel of its own. While the digital world has seemed to take over, Polaroid has remained a true love to many devout users and finds new followers all the time. After spending time with this book, my hope is that you, the reader, will be as inspired as I am to pick up a camera and create some wondrous Polaroids of your own.
