"After tne Hardy Boys, 1 had had it with television," reflects 22-year-old Shaun as he puts Roquefort dressing on his salad at the 20th Century-Fox commissary. "I was thrilled when I got the part, but what I really wanted to do was make records. My schedule on that show was so tight I used to be at the studio still filming at nine at night. After that I would go to the recording studio until midnight or later, and I still had to be back to film by ten the next moming." But now Shaun's found a new television series to star in and feels enough excitement about doing it that he's willing to put off recording for a while. Its a spinoff of the Oscar-nominated motion picture Breaking Away, which delighted millions with the antics of four high school buddies in the small college town of Bloomington, Indiana. This season their adventures will continue each week on ABC-TV. The guys are devoted to one another and dedicated to creating a lot of mischief for the university students, who ridicule them for their small-town ways. Shaun enjoys his role as Dave, whose constant sunny view of life is similar to his. "I've always been an optimistic person," says Shaun, and even his wife, actress and model Ann Pennington, claims he's a very positive person. "He's also really considerate and kind," she adds.
