01 Citizens of Western countries have their own credit history. Those living outside the limits of the Western World have its peculiar counterpart - a "visa histor/'. In both cases, it is about trust being granted and justified. In the first case, a person is given money for temporary use, and in the second - the temporary right to travel. In the former case it is expected that the money will return, in the latter - the actual person. However, a loan is about changing one's material well-being, and its use brings about a change in quality of life, whereas a visa changes a person's life only temporarily, grants its bearer freedom limited by time and space and, upon expiry, returns them to square one where, as before, they become a person with no freedom or right to travel.
This is probably why an important aspect of my Amsterdam life was not only the things happening to me here, but also the knowledge of the exact date when my sanctioned freedom was scheduled to expire. That date imphed departing from a country that gives its mhabitants the right to choose, and returning to my previous state, where "freedom" is reduced to the possibility of obtaining another invitation.
