INTRODUCTION The British Museum at Bloomsbury comprises the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography, the National Library, and the British Museum collection of Prints and Drawings. The Natural History Collections are at South Kensington. The Departments at Bloomsbury are as follows:- Library Museum Printed Books Coins and Medals Manuscripts Egyptian Antiquities Orientál Printed Books and Western Asiatic Antiquities Manuscripts Greek and Román Antiquities British and Medieval Antiquities Orientál Antiquities Ethnography The Department of Prints and Drawings The Research Laboratory The Director's Office (Administration and Public Services) The British Museum advances learning by the provision of matcrials and facilities for research, and by the encouragement of the study of literature, history, archaeology and art. Public use of the collections, which illustrate every aspect of the progress of civilisation, is afforded by the Reading Rooms and services in the Library Departments; by Students' Rooms in other Departments; by exhibition of select material in the Public Galleries; by public lecture-tours; by the publication of catalogues, guide books and reproductions; by photographic services; by the supply of casts; and by information given in response to personal enquiry.
