Dear Reader,A welcome message of an unusual kind it is for me, since in most cases I greet fans and friends of the sport on the occasion of a tennis tournament. This time, however, I am glad to present to you a world of secret wonders, which embarks on a fascinating journey reaching the most scenic landscapes of Hungary, offering an insight into its tennis facilities and clubs.I continuously travel around in the country to visit local tennis communities: clubs, their players, managers and members. I have been to many places, but the book of Sándor Árvay could indeed surprise me; the author introduces tennis centres that I have not yet come to know. I hereby encourage You, Dear Reader, to allow yourself the joy of opening this volume as soon as you plan a holiday or a weekend away from home to check whether the opportunity presents itself to play your favourite sport in that given region. What a miss it would be to stay uninformed, and not to know that you do not have to live without tennis for a single day!It is my great pleasure that this publication comes in press at a time, which can truly be called the Year of Tennis in Hungary. We have enjoyed a long and intense 2017 season with numerous successes under our belt. For the Hungarian Tennis Association it has been a very special year of remarkable achievements: Hungary hosted an ATP250 tournament for the first time, our Davis Cup team featuring Márton Fucsovics, Attila Balázs, Gábor Borsos and Zsombor Piros gained promotion to the World Group, Zsombor Piros was crowned champion of the Boys' Singles event at the Australian Open, the WTA Tour returned to Hungary, and Tímea Babos has become the first ever female Doubles World Champion from Hungary at the WTA Finals in Singapore.I wish each of You, Dear Readers, interesting discoveries and fun on court!Dr. Lajos SzűcsPresident,Hungarian Tennis Association
