About This Survey Here is our 2005America's Top Restaurants Survey, covering 1,383 restaurants in 41 major U.S. markets. We've created this guide to ensure that anyone can sample the best dining in virtually every major American city. For each area, we have included a üst of the top restaurants (based on the results of our most recent Surveys in that area) as well as "Additional Noteworthy Places." This marks the 26th year that Zagat Survey has reported on the shared experiences of diners like you. What started in 1979 in New York as a hobby involving 200 of our friends rating local restaurants has come a long way. Today we have over 250,000 surveyors and now cover entertaining, golf, hotels, resorts, spas, movies, music, nightlife, shopping, sites and attractions as well as the theater. Our Surveys are alsó available on wireless devices and bysubscription at zagat.com, where you can vote and shop as well. By regularly surveying large numbers of avid, educated customers, we hope to have achieved a uniquely current and reliable guide. Forthis book, nearly 110,000 restaurantgoers throughout the country participated. Our editors have done their bestto summarize our surveyors' opinions, with their exact comments shown in quotation marks. Divided roughly 50-50 between men and women and spread evenly among all age groups, these surveyors alsó come from every imaginable background and employment category. The one thing they have in common is that they are all restaurant lovers. We sincerely thank each of these surveyors; this book is really "theirs." We are alsó grateful to our local editors, many of whom are Professional food writers in their home cities. They helped us choose the restaurants to be listed and were responsible for editing the Survey results.
