INTRODUCTION
In this book in Simon Cox's A to Z series, the stories of King Arthur and the Holy Grail are examined and explained. Alongside the companion guides to Ancient Egypt, Atlantis and the occult, it is intended to inform and to excite further study. The team that puts these books together (for it is a team, including researchers, writers, editors and publishers) are very pleased with the outcome and hope this book, and indeed the whole series, may in time become a recognised reference work for the student of mysteries and historical enigmas.
King Arthur is a historical icon, a figure of reverence and awe for many and one whose very existence is simply taken for granted by a large proportion of the population.
