FOREWORD According to Dr. Eugen Jonas, astrological birth control is a natural form of birth control based on the idea that a woman has two fertility cycles per month: the regular, monthly ovulation cycle, plus a second fertility cycle which can be precisely calculated from the time of her birth. Jonas postulates a biological rhythm involved with both fertility and sex determination. In the summer of 1968 we were in Prague researching our book, Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain. There we first heard of Dr. Eugen Jonas and his cosmobiological-or astrological-system of birth control and sex selection. We couldn't help catching a twinge of enthusiasm from the Czech scientist who told us about the system. People we met said they had used astrological birth control for several years. Statistical and practical evidence seemed to exist that Jonas' theories worked. And just a few weeks earlier, a center had opened with official approval to facilitate mass use of the Jonas method. A center for planned parenthood, using astrology in a Communist country and directed by a doctor, added up to a striking combination in itself. Our schedule in Prague didn't provide time for a side trip to Dr. Jonas' center in Nitra, so in a lengthy book we included only a very few pages on the little we knew of this Slovakian doctor. Since then a lot has happened.
