Bővebb ismertető
We are honored to present you with another Haggadah from the
unique series of Passover Haggadahs dedicated to Jewish communities
around the world, especially prepared and printed for BHI (Bank
Hapoalim International).
This year, the 60th Anniversary of Israel's independence,
the Haggadah is dedicated to the establishment of the Jewish community
of Babylonia (Iraq) after the first exile from the Land of Israel
(Jehoiachin Exile, 597 BCE).
Babylonian Jewry is central among Jewish communities: A community
in which a cultural, religious, economic, and national center
unprecedented in the Jewish world, evolved and whose cultural life
culminated with the Babylonian Talmud (ca. 500 CE).
The Jews of Babylonia, expanded with new communities throughout
the world, integrating into the local cultures and economies, while
preserving their identity, and fostering their aspiration to fulfill the
dream of returning to their land, as indicated in Psalms (137:1):
"By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept,
when we remembered Zion."
