Preface
This pocket guide to Munich is one of the new generation of Baedeker guides.
Baedeker pocket guides, illustrated throughout in colour, are designed to meet the needs of the modern traveller. They are quick and easy to consult, with the principal features of interest described in alphabetical order and practical details about location, opening times, etc., shown in the margin.
This city guide is divided into three parts. The first part gives a generál account of the city, its topography, climate, population, culture, economy and transport, famous people and history. A brief selection of quotations leads in to the second part, where the principal places of tourist interest are described. The third part contains a variety of practical information designed to help visitors to find their way about and to make the most of their stay. Both the sights and the Practical Information section are given in alphabetical order.
Baedeker pocket guides, which are regularly updated, are noted for their concentration on essentials and their convenience of use. They contain many coloured illustrations and specially drawn plans, and at the back of the book will befound a large plan ofthe city. Each main entry in the AtoZ section gives the co-ordinates of the square on the plan in which the particular feature can be located. Users of this guide, therefore, should have no difficulty in finding what they want to see.
