Bővebb ismertető
USE OF HANDBOOKHow to use this handbookThis Grammar Handbook can be used in two ways.If you want to get a general picture of some aspects of Italian grammar, start with the introductory list of Contents. You can then read through the relevant sections of the text. The many cross-references will lead you to other, related topics. If you want to find out more about a specific grammatical point or about the use of particular Italian words or expressions, consult the extensive Index at the end of the book. The Index has many sub-headings, and in addition items are frequently referenced under more than one heading. The Index will point you to individual paragraph numbers. The Handbook gives a great deal of information about grammatical forms and structures, but above all is designed to show how they fit in with what you want to say or write.Grammatical terms are treated as convenient labels and used whenever necessary, but the Handbook does not assume that you already know what they mean. All the sections of this book include explanations of grammatical terms.A key feature is the number of examples, drawn from a wide stock of Italian in current use. Wherever it makes sense to do so, these examples are linked together into a short dialogue, topic or narrative. If you do not understand a grammatical explanation, the example will help you to recognize the feature. This Handbook Is intended for people who want to use their Italian. Where constructions are used only in formal contexts, this is made clear in the text. Finally, as a safety net, there are special warning sections wherever you see this sign, to help you avoid the more obvious traps and pitfalls.
