PREFACEThe present volume of our Bibliography brings almost no change compared to the former ones. The standpoint of data-collecting, character and arrangement of the material published rests unchanged. However, the observant reviewer may strike upon some important elements too, which are rather fortunate indeed. The most essential fact is, that since the publication of the first volume, the number of our contributors have increased on such scale, that thanks to their devoted, unsparing efforts the material is growing continually to more completeness, it gives a more and more comprehensive study on the literature of agricultural history in its entirety. According to this, the supplements have been reduced and in the following volumes their number will become probably even less. The present volume contains in almost every detail the technical solutions of earlier date merely in a few cases we were improving them. This happened at the index of authors where as in the former volume too those works which were published without stating the author's name, are to be found but under the title-entries also. We have tried to make the index of countries more useful too, in stating some larger historical-geographical indications as Byzantium, the Roman Empire and larger geographic units as the Baltic States, Western Europe, the Balkans which did not appear independently so far in the index, but were assigned to other, larger units. All this means but the first step on that way of modifications indicated earlier in which we should like to facilitate the utility of the Bibliography. We do hope to realize the predominant part ob these modifications in our coming volume.P. Gunst
