^ ^ or years Russia has been home to a secret weapon, more ^ ^ powerful than the nuclear warheads that made it a world I superpower. When all hope seems lost and the casualties of war are mounting, there is a cold war the Russians almost always win: the battle with the elements. Russians are proud of their hideous weather, and they'll often describe a -40 "C (-40 °F) day with the same pride a fisherman uses to describe an especially large marlin he caught. Russia is home to the coldest city on Earth, Yakutsk. Interestingly, an English researcher has found that the British, not the Russians, are more likely to die of the effects of exposure. Why? Because no Siberian has ever been shocked to discover it was cold outside. Siberia has cold like Bill Gates has money. In January, a typical Yakutskian will not venture out in less than 4.26 layers of clothes. (That's an average arrived at by a scientist. They don't cut their clothing in quarters.) A Londoner, meanwhile, goes out with little more than a Jacket. This understanding of the elements has served the Russian people very well. In fact, were it not for this skill, Russians might be speaking French today.
