Bővebb ismertető
PREFACE I have written this book of exercises mainly: (a) because of the very favourable reception given to its 'elder brother,' Enrich Your English, and (b) because many of my teacher friends have suggested that a second, slightly easier edition would be very welcome. Those already familiar with Enrich Your English will need no introduction to this book which is built up on the same pattern as that. It is a book of exercises designed to strengthen vocabulary, to improve spelling, sentence construction, and the writing of English generally. Enrich Your English has been recommended for use by students preparing for examinations such as the General Certificate of Education and the Cambridge Proficiency in English, fíuild Up Your English is intended for the Cambridge Lower Certificate (and similar examinations) standard and finally to link up with the earlier edition. The final Sections are almost of the standard of Enrich Your English. There are twenty-five Sections in this book, each divided into two parts, A and B. Part A. This part includes exercises such as: (a)Definitions in which single sentences are required. (b)Descriptions of common objects in a given number of words (length variable at tlie discretion of teachers). (c)Dialogue. (d)Idiomatic expressions. (e)Letter-writing. (/) Essays. vii
