ONE-DAY EVENTS IN THE COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL INTERVIEWS
Faces of Tamás Cseh - a cross-section of a life
It was over forty years ago that Tamás Cseh and Géza Bereményi started composing their more than one thousand songs, and soon after also performing them. After the 2009 death of Tamás Cseh, one of the tivo composers and the actual performer of the pieces, the National Széchényi Library's Collection of Historical Interviews started a systematic collection of his wor\ in order to develop a comprehensive Tamás Cseh archive.
Processing this rich material enabled us to display in the seventh floor grand hall of the national library the memorabilia of Tamás Cseh's Indian life and creations for one single day. The day was 22'"' January 2013, the 70'*' anniversary of Cseh's birth, which also happens to be the Day of Hungarian Culture. This was the first time friends, fans, researchers
and readers saw the material in one block. Excerpts from films, concerts, theatre performances, television programs and interviews were shown, as well as his personal objects, photos, manuscripts, music sheets, records and works of art. His tepee was put up and furnished with contributions from his friends, giving a rare glance into his "other life" as an Indian in the Bakony mountains.
Some 1800 visitors were attracted to the one-day event, part of which was two highly successful concerts given by friends and co-creators, each launching their songs dedicated to Tamás Cseh. The midday event entitled A Concert without Him was given by members of the Ad Libitum band, who used to accompany Tamás Cseh, featuring János Nóvák, István Márta and Gábor Kecskeméti; from six in the evening János Másik played some of the songs he had jointly composed with Cseh.
