Precautions
Data Storage
Storage of data is made possible through a steady energy supply from the batteries. Failure to replace worn-out batteries promptly or replacing batteries incorrectly will interrupt the energy supply and cause the recorded data to be lost or altered. Loss or alteration of data can also occur, though very infrequently, due to extreme levels of static electricity, physical shocks to the calculator, or severe environmental conditions. It is therefore advisable to make notes of important data, as data which has been lost from the DM-4000's memory cannot be restored.
When to Replace Batteries
Replace the power supply batteries immediately in any of the following instances:
• The display fades during operation.
• Nothing is displayed after the power is turned on.
• The characters are indiscernible even after adjusting the screen's brightness.
• The low battery message appears.
Be sure to replace the memory backup battery once every two years.
Notes Concerning the Battery
¦ Do not try to recharge, disassemble or do anything to the battery that could cause a short circuit.
¦ Do not expose the battery to high temperatures or open flames.
¦ Store the battery out of the reach of small children.
¦ If the battery is swallowed, consult a physician immediately.
¦ Be sure to keep the screwdriver provided for replacing the memory backup battery in a safe place.
