ew fields of study offer more career opportunities than does psychology. This book is about those career opportunities. They are diverse. They are challenging. They are fun. And, for the most part, they pay well. They are alsó flexible: People can switch, often fairly easily and with a minimum of adjustment, from one career within psychology to another. Moreover, even within a single career, the variety of challenges and activities will interest even the most easily bored individuals. This is the second edition of this work. The first edition was published 10 years ago. Since then, the complexion of the field of psychology has changed. This book contains five more chapters than the first edition. Moreover, all chapters have been either very substantially updated or, in most cases, completely rewritten to reflect current trends. Somé chapters have been deleted and others added to reflect changes in the field. In a randomly chosen week, I may fly across the country to give a departmental colloquium, teach courses to both undergraduate and graduate students, work on an article for a professional journal, work on an article for a popular magaziné, work on a chapter of a textbook for undergraduates, consult with an educational or business organization, write part of a grant proposal, meet one on one with students
