How to use the Dictionary
ENGLISH-CHINESE SIDE
Below you will find an outline of how Information is presented in your dictionary. Our aim is to give you the maximum amount of detail in the clearest and most helpful way.
1 Alphabetical order
1.1 On the English side, strict alphabetical order applies for all headwords except for phrasal verbs (see 1.3 below). For instance, a headword with an initial capital comes before the same word with a lower-case initial.
1.2 Alphabetical order for headwords is as follows:
upper case lower case
upper case + full stop lower case + full stop upper case + numeral lower case + numeral

BA etc.
1.3 Phrasal verbs appear in alphabetical order at the end of the entry they belong with and before any other headwords.Thus,buy back,buy ln,buyinto,buyoff,buyout andbuyup all appear beforebuyer.
1.4 Except for phrasal verbs, all other compounds consisting of two or more words are shown as headwords in alphabetical order:
pedestrian pedestrian crossing pedestrianized pedestrian precinct
2 Homonyms
2.1 Words which are written in the same way but have different pronunciations are shown as separate headwords and differentiated by the use of numbers:
