Preface The aim of this volume is to provide a textbook on Commerce suitable for students preparing for General Certificate of Secondary Education examinations. It is designed alsó for students taking the Commerce examinations of the London Chamber of Commerce Examinations Board, Pitman Examinations Institute, University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (overseas candidates) and the University of London School Examinations Board (overseas candidates). It alsó provides a useful text for candidates taking RSA Background to Business examinations. Those studying GCE Advanced Level Economics and other economics courses for examinations set by the professional bodies will find the book to be valuable background reading. People engaged in commercial occupations, whether in trade or in one of the services ancillary to trade, will find the book to be useful in identifying how particular occupations fit into the generál scheme of commerce.
