Welcome to the fourth book in our Digital Artist Master Class series, d'artiste: Concept Art showcases the work and creative prowess of acclaimed concept artists: George Hull, Andrew Jones, Nicolas "Sparth" Bouvier, and Viktor Antonov. These four Master Artists have worked on a remarkable number of high-profile movie and game projects including: 'Matrix Reloaded'; 'Matrix Revolutions'; 'V for Vendetta'; 'Finding Nemo'; 'Mission; Impossible'; 'Constantine'; 'Jurassic Park: The Lost World'; the special editions of 'Star Wars', The Empire Strikes Back', and 'Return of the Jedi'; 'Star Trek Generations'; 'Twister'; 'Forrest Gump'; 'Metroid Prime 2'; 'Metroid Prime 3'; 'Metroid Prime Hunter'; 'Half-Life 2'; 'Half-Life 2: Lost Coast'; 'Renaissance'; 'Alone in the Dark 4'; and 'Prince of Persia: Warrior Within'.
In d'artiste: Concept Art, each Master Artist presents his conceptual art techniques through a series of tutorials which start with the idea and step through the process of bringing the idea to fruition. The book is broken into four sections based around each Master Artist. Artists' sections include a personal gallery, the artist's work and thoughts in their own words, a large tutorial section, and an invited artist gallery featuring paintings from some of the most talented concept artists in the world.
The d'artiste imprint (pronounced dah-tee-st) means both 'of the artist' and 'digital artist'. Each d'artiste title features techniques and approaches of a small group of Master Artists. The focus of d'artiste series is not limited to just techniques and technical tricks. We also showcase galleries of the artist's personal work and a gallery of artwork created by invited artists. Along with artist interviews this gives the reader a comprehensive and personal insight into the Master Artists—their approaches, their techniques, their influences and their works.
Ballistic Publishing continues to expand the d'artiste series to encompass all aspects of digital content creation. The d'artiste series already includes: Digital Painting; Character Modeling; and Matte Painting.
