Solubility properties of pharmaceutical raw materials determine the conditions of the injection production and also influence the resorption and transport of medicines, theii" distribution in body fluids, and many other bio-physical-chemical processes necessary to the pharmacodynamic effect. Knowledge of solubility conditions is therefore especially important in the pharmaceutical technology in curse of the design of procedures for industrial manufacture of pharmaceutical products. In therapy aqueous injection solutions of higher concentration than that of the saturated solution are required in many cases. Increase of solubility must be ensured in these cases by use of a suitable technology.
Several methods are known for the increasing of solubility, that can be performed in injection production only on the basis of thorough consideration of various biological aspects. The water-solubility of the base material may be increased:
1. by chemical methods (production of water-soluble salts, introduction of hydrophylic groups into the molecule),
2. by physico-chemical methods (by means of solvent-mixtures, or dissolution mediation using hydrotropic auxiliary materials.
