FOREWORD
Cardiac pacing is a dynamic medical discipline that reflects the technological advances of the present age. The ever increasing sophistication and complexity of cardiac pacing devices, however, demands careful scrutiny and judicious application by the medical community, which, in turn, requires a continuous interchange of knowledge between physicians and a critical review of each other's clinical experiences. Symposia are one means for initiating such an interchange and then disseminating the information. The six physicians who participated in the symposium on dual-chamber pacing represent a wide range of expertise in both pacing for bradycardias and tachycardias. Their shared knowledge published here is intended to provide an overview of the most recent concepts and trends in the application of cardiac pacing.
