Hello and welcome to deutsch rapid. We're very pleased you've decided to learn Germán with this course; we promise to make things as easy as we possibly can. What we want to avoid above all else is that you find yourself under stress and wor-king under pressure. So please lean back and listen to what we have to offer. We've put together somé short dialogues for you, and selec-ted somé important words and expressions that you'll be able to use daily in Germany, in your priváté life and at work. And there's somé grammar, too. Our goal is that you should make as few mistakes as possible, from the very beginning, that you make quick progress, and above all that you enjoy it. So sit back now and let me guide you through the course. I'll intro-duce each single step to you. At the beginning most of the instruc-tions on the cassette will be in English. Later on in the course you'll hear more and more Germán. The individual steps in each lesson 1 Listen to the dialogue or dialogues at least twice. If your cassette recorder has a counter, note down the number at the start so that you'll be able to find the beginning of the dialogue again easily. 2 Read the vocabulary and the explanations, and try to learn and remember as much as possible. 3 Listen to the dialogue or dialogues again. They are spoken this time at normál speed. 4 Stop the cassette and read the grammar explanations in the book. Then listen to the example sentences on the cassette. 5 Listen to the exercises and speak. 6 Read the test and mark the correct answers. Check your answers in the key at the end of the book and count up your points: one point for each right answer. You'll find what to do after that at the end of each lesson. And please remember this: the more times you repeat each lesson, the faster and better you'll learn Germán.
