This brief guide is designed to help you find your way around the Deutsches Museum. The ground floor and basement are described on pages 8 to 59, the first floor on pages 60 to 89, and the second floor on pages 90 to 115. The third floor and the floors above it are described from page n6 onwards. Occasionally we have to depart from this order, as some departments, such as Aeronautics, extend over sev-eral floors or may be entered from a different floor, as is the case with Astronautics. Areas of spécial interest are ail listed in the index to this guide. It may be worth your while to seek out some of the quieter sections of the muséum. On the one hand, they are good places to take a breather, on the other you may well make some interesting discoveries as there are plenty of attractions here too. Along with the permanent exhibitions, the Deutsches Muséum also holds spécial exhibitions in some of the rooms. The muséum staff will be happy to provide information and directions. Posters in the stairways give détails of current spécial exhibitions. You are also welcome to attend the film shows, lectures, and démonstrations (some basic knowledge of English is necessary). The relevant dates and rooms are given on page 6. A technical muséum is never really complété. One collection or another is always being added to or brought up to date and it may just happen that the section which partic-ularly interests you is closed when you come.
