The wise ones of old were the healers and herbalists, the oracles and medicine men, the witch doctors and diviners. They were most often born with the seed of knowing, choosing to be chosen by the magical world, and often going through intense personal experiences before their gifts were revealed to them. The wise ones became ever wiser by being of service to others, and by sharing their gifts with sensitivity and compassion. They were mostly simple people, living simple lives. What made many of them different was their discovery that ancient wisdom lay within the self.
The way of ancient wisdom is the way of truth, of revealing the secrets locked within the self. To this end, every civilization has had ways of communicating with this inner world, utilizing the powers of the mind, the psyche, and the spirit, and frequently calling upon the wise ones of their tribe to help to guide them to their own inner teacher.
The first section of this book offers a grounding in the physical reality of divination, helping you to understand how the magic of the moon influences your moods, your dreams, and your relationships. It shows you how your birth date on an astrological chart, or the lines on the palm of your hand, can act like maps to guide you through your strengths and weaknesses and so assist in developing your understanding of who you are. As you change, so do the lines on your hand. They are not fixed, and show that the future is yours in the making. You can influence the course of your life and change your destiny, if you act consciously from a place of inner knowing.
hlaving grasped the basics of your personality, you can use the second part of the book to aid in developing your inner world through shamanic practices, working with dreams and meditation. To be a true shaman is to walk between worlds, having no fear of death or darkness, understanding this to be the other side of life and light. The shaman works with energy, with natural forces as well as nature herself. Acting as an intermediary, the shaman will seek the help of "good spirits" (or vital energies) and will negotiate with "bad spirits" (or dense energies) to return a sick person to health or to help someone acting out of character back to their happier self. The shaman is the spiritual warrior, who faces life's challenges with courage and daring.
Shamanic practices help to develop a^deeper relationship with all life, including your own
a beautiful being of light.
