INTRODUCTION As a black American who has spent the last few years living and working in Australasia I have experienced the special joy of having been treated by the Aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand as part of their family tree. Aborigines and Maoris have made clear their desire to know as much as possible about the people of "colour" in America. To help make the link between us stronger, I have gathered some of the work of a few black American writers to share with people living on this side of the world.
