PrefaceIn this revised edition, the scientific namesof all speciesof mushrooms discussed have been updated to accord with the internationally approved nomenclature. I am grateful for the assistance of Elwin L. Stewart, Assistant Professor, Plant Pathology, University of Minnesota, in this updating. We have retained in parentheses the technical names used previously for easy comparison with the many older manuals still in use. Several common and widely distributed species that are easily recognized and very edible have been added, as have a number of color photographs, which will aid readers in identifying mushrooms. There is also a new section on mushroom cookery.We hope these changes will make the book more useful and more enjoyable. Good mushroom hunting!C. M. C.March 1981
