Preface
The 6th International Congress on Electrocardiology is the 20th International Symposium on Vectorcardiography and therefore an important event that reflects twenty-year experience of successful international collaboration of scientists from many countries.
Scientists of various fields, physiologists and mathematicians, physicists and engineers, functional diagnosticians and clinicians took part in these international symposia. All of them were joined by one idea, namely, to study as deeply as possible the theoretical aspects of the cardiac electrical field and to develop techniques useful for clinic, for diagnostics and for effective therapy. One human goal was pursued - to be useful for the patient, for his treatment and prolongation of his life.
The first symposium, organized by Polish scientists H.Kowarzyk and Z.Kowarzykowa in 1959, became a traditional annual meeting of scientists who always reported new knowledges on the cardiac electrical field and discussed important theoretical and practical problems.
In every following year the symposium took place always in another country. More and more scientists working in this field participated.
Since 1974 the meetings were called: International Congress on Electrocardiology. The proceedings of the first, second and third International Congress on Electrocardiology were published in the Karger Publishing Company, Basel. The proceedings of the fourth in the North-Holland Publishing Company, Amsterdam and those of the fifth in the Pitman Medical Publishing Co Ltd Kent, England.
The International Congress of 1979 took place in Yalta (USSR).
This volume presents the main papers of this Congress.
