STAGE 1: LESSON 2 TRACK 4 I come from a small town in Minnesota, but I live in Hollywood now. and it's very different. In my home town people are very friendly. They walk down the Street and they speak to you. They say 'Hi there!' and 'How are you?' Here in Hollywood people don't walk. They drive everywhere. I live in this big house on Santa Monica and sometimes I don't see anyone ali day. STAGE 1: LESSON 3 TRACK 5 I do the same things every day. I wake up at seven, but I stay in bed until seven fifteen. Then I get up and have a shower. That really wakes me up! I get dressed and then I have breakfast - some toast and a cup of coffee. I leave the house at eight thirty and walk to the bus stop. I go to work by bus. I start work at about nine, and I finish work at five or six. In the evening, I have dinner and watch television or play on the computer. I am usually in bed by eleven! STAGE 1: LESSON 4 TRACK 6 I live with my mother and my father and my two brothers. They are called Owen and David. Owen is twenty and he's at university. David is sixteen and he's at school, like me. I have two grandmothers and one grandfather. My other grandfather is dead. I have one uncle and one aunt. My aunt lanet is my mother's sister. They have two daughters. Rosa is ten and Gemma is fourteen, like me. They are my cousins. BREAKTHROUGH 1 TRACK 7 A: I live in a flat with a nice. sunny balcony. B: We live in a detached house with a big garden. STAGE 1: LESSON 6 TRACK 11 One I like my job because I talk to people while I cut their hair. I ask them about their holidays and their families. It's hard work as I have to stand all day. Two I like staying in bed in the morning. Some people say I don't work hard because they think l'm always in bed. But when they are in bed I am at work. I have to study and read lots of books. but it's what I want to do. Three I work for a large department store. I sell women's clothes and shoes. It's a good job because I like the other people who work here and the hours are good. Of course, l have to be polite to customers. English in 20 minutes a day
