PROJECT WORKDear Students,Here is something challenging for you! Twice per term, for one hour, you are going to organize yourselves into groups for an activity called Project Work. It may sound a little bit complicated, but in fact it is a nice and creative activity. What is Project Work after all? It is working together for producing an extended piece of work on a given topic. Think a little! All the decisions about content and presentation are in your hands! But of course, your teacher is there and you may always ask for his/her help. The project covers the whole school year and involves the preparation of an end product, which may be a museum mini-guide or a file including all materials on separate sheets of paper (one more decision you have to take!). The title of the whole project is "Personal Museum".At the end of each term there will be a/ display of your mini-projects. Before that, nevertheless, your teacher will have a look at it from time to time. You will be also asked to hand in your final project on an agreed date.At the end of the school year the final product will include all the mini-projects distributed throughout the textbook, both in the Skills and in the Culture and Civilization lessons. Don't worry! Not all sub-projects must be carried out. Your group chooses one sub-project from each Unit, therefore at the end of the school year you will have eight mini-projects in all which together will form the "Personal Museum". We thought that this "Personal Museum" idea will give you the possibility to show your interest for the English language, your creativity, talent and enthusiasm. Do not be afraid to come with new ideas. We are sure that you are all talented, even if your field is drawing or electronics. You will see that there is lot of space for that too in your sub-task. Do not be afraid to use English in your groups. Imagine that each member of the group is of a different nationality and the common language is English, so you have to make yourself understood. And remember that the golden rule of such a project is "Work with each other; Don't compete!" Some of the mini-projects will involve individual work, others will ask you to work in groups. We are sure you will work hard but also that you will be very proud of your results. And what a satisfaction to have the projects displayed, first in class or school and then, maybe, in other important places. Like the English Teachers' Conferences for instance. Or show them to the guests of your school, or your parents. Or even initiate "The Museum Day" an event which is explained further. Now, have a look at the sub-projects for each term. They give you a general idea of what is expected from you, while detailed explanations are to be found in every Unit.
